Jen: Portraits of a Photographer

Saturday, August 7, 2010

I would like to thank social networking, the talented Jennifer Rodriguez-Cruz, and the hazy, smokey skies for this photo shoot. Seriously, my heart just about burst thinking of it all as I went to bed that night. Because sometimes, if you’re lucky, and a few good things come together, you get something fantastic. I’m talking making new friends, connecting over something you love, and discovering the most yummy light. You should have seen us getting all giddy over it.

Jen and I met over Facebook, through a mutual photographer friend, Emily. She figured we’d get along well and she was right. After months of chatting here and there and stalking each others blogs…we had the crazy idea to meet up. In person! Real face time! And over bellinis no less :)

Then came idea #2 – let’s swap headshots. Now it can be intimidating photographing a photographer. What I found even more intimidating was being on the other side of the lens! I think it was worth while just to feel how many clients can feel, and know what it takes to break down that uncomfortable barrier. And before long, of course, we relaxed and had so much fun!

I came out from Abbotsford and met Jen in her hometown, Chilliwack. We drove to the Blue Heron Reserve and shot until the sun sank behind the mountains…and then shot a little more…

One other thing: Jen is beautiful.

Jen loves her Booster Juice…so a quick, pre-shoot stop was a must!

Helloooo gorgeous!

The light was positively dreamy…

Rocking out some more after an outfit change…

It was Canon vs Nikon ;)

And another…love, love the pop of color!

Jen, thanks for a most excellent time! Can’t wait to hang out again! xo

    Lovely to view.
Some of them caught my eye-love the artistic way of capturing the story.

I’ve just come from Jen’s blog and I think the two of you are the prettiest photographers ever! What a gorgeous session to swap from model to photographer and get such fantastic light for both of you.
