Things I Love Thursday

Thursday, November 11, 2010

Uh oh…I think this vacation has been too good to me. I’m having an abnormally hard time getting any work done. I know, I know, you’re not even supposed to work on vacation. But it’s been a few days and I’ve actually been able to switch off work mode and embrace the holiday…but I allotted just a couple of hours for work and really, I had to blog at least once from Hawaii.

Aloha :)

I have fallen in love with Hawaii. And all the little things that make up it. What’s not to love? A vacation in the sun on the beach. Enough said. How about no cell phone, no schedule, no stress? The biggest decisions of the day revolve around where we should go out for dinner or at what time should we head to the beach? Will it be an iced coconut latte or green tea lemonade? The black bikini or the floral one? Yes, when these are the biggest questions or concerns of the day, you know you’ve got it good. Then there are all those little things that you don’t want to forget…

-trading rush hour traffic for floating lazily on the warm ocean waves

-breakfast with an ocean view. lunch on the beach. dinner with an ocean view.

-laughing hysterically when after dinner, you all take turns reading your fortunes from the fortune cookies…adding the line “in bed” at the end. Don’t ask, just do it next time and you’ll get it.

-listening to live music on the beach

-observing new aerobic moves from the random Asian lady on the beach one night…who walked backwards…in a circle…flapping her arms…completely sober and apparently sane. This went on for awhile.

-watching a sliver moon set over the ocean from a lifeguard tower

-getting to write this blog post from a Starbucks in a garden, as opposed to my ‘home office’

-forgetting what day or even time of year it is (eeek Christmas is coming!!)

-to be continued…

If I can’t be in Hawaii at this moment than I’m happy for all my friends that are! Especially love the pic of Makapu…otherwise known in our family as “Brett’s Beach”…we have Shane to thank for Graham and Brett’s boogyboarding addiction!!! So glad you are falling in love with Hawaii. Say a big Hi to David, Alanna, and Shane! Can’t wait to meet you one day…Teresa

    Oh Mikaela!
I’m excited for the daily adventures you are having! I am excited for your holiday and I hope that it is a much need “escape” in which you are able to strengthen your vision in what you do for people (which by the way is AMAZING!), but most importantly, that it gives you time to strengthen your relationship with Shane.
Take advantage of the beauty the island has to offer, brag about it through words and photos as much as you can, opening the eyes of others to world that extends far beyond the drizzly BC! Hahaha!
Looking forward to seeing you when you’re home, having you for tea and signing the contract!
    Hugs!
